“One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain”. Bob Marley

Junkbox Guitars are traditional-style fully functional cigar box guitars which you are going to love! If you have a yearning to play a screaming, wailing slide guitar, play a classic ZZTop ‘La Grange’ lick or a slow melancholy blues sittin’ on your porch with your dog and a beer, this is what you need! All guitars are electric, and I make 3 string, fretted and fretless, 4 and 6 string fretted cbg’s, and more.

Guitar bodies are cigar boxes… or anything else that appeals to me! I have made great sounding guitars from metal cookie tins, army canteens, steel toolboxes, cutlery and jewelry boxes and home-made boxes, following a tradition of ‘making do’ with what can be found. Necks are generally oak, sometimes maple or poplar: likewise the fretboards.Necks have a comfortable D profile, and the size of the neck and the body are great for small hands; or as a perfect travel or camping guitar.

In the construction of my guitars I aim for a well-crafted, attractive looking product, which in keeping with the ethos of hand-made musical instruments (found anywhere in the world), uses recycled or re-purposed materials and  is not overly engineered. Most importantly, the cbg must be a fully playable instrument, not just an interesting talking-piece. A balance, I think, between good functionality and remaining true to a tradition.

You’ll find an instrument which , I hope, you’ll love to play… on the couch, on stage, by a campfire. I’m certain that the more you familiarize yourself with these fantastic little instruments, the more you will love them.
